![]() Maybe you could argue it’s not worth the time and effort to negotiate. Overall even if you were a complete cynic and wanted to argue that there is absolutely no benefit whatsoever in pursuing a CANZUK alliance, there are certainly NO disadvantages. This is most certainly on the fringes though and doesn’t mean we should ignore all the potential benefits of CANZUK due to a very very small minority. I’d actually argue what’s more of a problem is that the idea is appealing to Imperial apologist’s. Not to say we’re perfect, there is plenty room for us to improve, but when compared to others nations around the world (European nations included) we’re doing well. Especially given the fact that CANZUK nations are fairly diverse and some of the most tolerable nations in the world. ![]() The accusations of racism are actually laughable. Investment is already extremely high between CANZUK nations, so why not remove trade barriers to make it easier to do business? That doesn’t mean it’s not worth pursuing. ![]() I’ve personally not heard or seen one person argue that a CANZUK alliance would replace the EU (in value) as a trading bloc. Accusing CANZUK of being racist or that CANZUK could never replace the EU. What bothers myself and many others however is - as someone pointed out earlier - the “low hanging fruit” arguments. I myself, as a CANZUK advocate recognise some of the valid criticisms such as geography and current low value of trade. How does a simple trading alliance between 4 countries that have a similar culture annoy him so much? It’s almost like he’s annoyed at Roberts’ article in the WSJ and not canzuk.įor the most part people on this sub are very much open to criticism. And the canzuk nations definitely haven’t been selected for their similar economic success.Īt least we now know that canzuk will never happen because it’s racist, only supported by some members of the UK Conservative party and is a recreation of the British Empire. ![]() Race isn’t an issue for the EU he so passionately adores. #CRITICISM OF UNHERD FREE#How does it multiply?Īlso ‘Eager to shy away from accusations of racial discrimination in choosing Britian’s former white colonies for political union over the rest of the Commonwealth, CANZUK’s adherents seem to advance the notion that the people of Australia, Canada and New Zealand are, whatever their origin, somehow metaphysically British, like those of Hong Kong, due to their adherence to Westminster-style governance and free trade dogma.’ Personal favourite: ‘Everything about the EU that Red Wall voters hated, this would multiply.’Ĭanzuk could literally become exactly the same as the EU and it’d be smaller. ‘the siren song of Westminster’s new Empire League’ Really insightful and detailed journalism. Oooo there’s some good quotes in this one. ![]()
